Question 1

What is a Bar Raiser at Amazon?

Accepted Answer

An interviewer from outside the hiring team, trained to maintain the hiring standard and holding effective veto power over the decision. They usually probe hardest on Leadership Principle answers.

Question 2

Do I need STAR format for Amazon interviews?

Accepted Answer

It is close to mandatory. Amazon behavioural questions are scored against specific Leadership Principles, and STAR gives the interviewer the structure they are filling in. Quantify the Result wherever you honestly can, and say what you did rather than what the team did.
